Since you mentioned the current state of the work needing to be done, we are both talking about the current system.
It may not be the system we need going forward, but it IS the current system, so it's the one we need to work to change.

Both good questions. There are plenty of things that could indeed be done, but under the current system, no one is willing to pay enough to get them done. Very few are willing to do the "work" for nothing other than their own satisfaction.

But only if we have enough work to be done. Promising someone a job when there's no work to do is basically UI.

It will require a series of progressive administrations to make that happen, but you are very right.

It will involve a full reworking of society, but we should be able to see labor savings like this as a good thing.
It should NOT be our goal to all work for 40 years+.
There are other ways to organize things & a UBI may be an important part of the new way forward.
