Her pronouns are she/her and she's a trans lesbian. She's a speed type character (from the speed/power/fly team composition of Sonic Heroes) Informational text that reads as follows: "Fern is a timid, forest green hedgehog from West Side Island's Emerald Hill, who moved to Westopolis on the mainland in recent years to try and make changes in her life. She's a natural homebody that likes video games and drawing, but also has a deep love of plants and flowers. She's not really a fighter, but finds herself in the crossfire of dangerous events unfortunately often and as a result has had to slowly learn to fight back with help from her newfound friends Saffron and Stella. Pokémon Trainer Mikan and her partner/twin sister, Mitsue the Arcanine.

Mikan works with her parents at Silph Co. in Saffron City, spending most of her free time with gadgets and computers.

While rather eccentric, she's also a powerful trainer pushed forward by an incident from her childhood.
