Oh Lingly I have stepped
among the buttercups
and Bingly were the cherries
on which that day I supped
Most Kringly was the Kristopher
who on that day I heard
And Singly the one, I must aver
which was in fact a word

(Stevie Wonder, of course, but genius like his transcends time: you can’t define an era if you’re the only one who can do what you do.)

In the Air Tonight (Phil Collins, 1981) very much invented the drum sound that defined 80’s music. Herbie Hancock’s Rockit (1983) defined synthesizer and hip-hop. There’s a lot of artists that straddled the 70’s-80’s transition, clearly shifting: Styx and Pointer Sisters stand out to me.

Interesting - I think “Call Me” has definitely not let go of the seventies - but Blondie was a very sophisticated band, playing with genre, pushing into new territory while being musically more complex than a lot of popular music. Call Me is them moving music into the eighties.

I look forward to judging the bake-off. I warn you both, I am exacting — I need many samples

I like it, but I’m not sure I buy it. It’s got an Adam West Batman quality about it - even when Batman’s been brainwashed into working for a villain, he can’t cheat at solitaire.
I think integrity and character can have nuance - and one of those nuances is that what you watch is not who you are.

There’s a great scene in a Bujold book where a character overhears a couple talking about him after talking -with- him and finds out…that they really meant what they told him. He thinks to himself: “huh, I guess that’s what integrity is - on the inside, they’re what they seem on the outside.”

we thought it was a different time and we could get away with it.”

Agree with post and above comments - overall, first season writing was better, second season was clever with playing with her power, but that’s not where the drive of the show is. That said, I want to see Dinklage solvin’ mysteries, I just want him to have his own character to play in.

He’s in a Chariots of Fire remake. That fella can -run-.

The Wand of Watoomb, which has a great name and looks intriguing and is regularly described as really powerful, but is a baton in Contest of Champions as much as anything else.

There’s multiple layers. I very much wish every report of every large statistic was benchmarked to deaths by automobile.

This is so integral that the question is not why we dance, it’s why we do other things that aren’t. I’m not even sure I do-it’s just dancing less well.
I luxuriate in my position as a dad of teen/tweens, who are mortified that I dance in the car, and standing in line, and walking down the street.

but nobody likes to be defined, even by themselves.
Fun idea but not enough fun to be worth the adjudication: parties should be referred to by what their opponents call them. That would tend to bring out the specifics (“The make parking cost more party”)

we were essentially posting the same thing at the same time :)

My primary point is that this is where the focus should be. He denies it’s his, the evidence has been there and hasn’t changed.

In fairness, the new article from americanjournalnews.com/tumblr-linke... points out why the account was linked to Reid, namely that it has the same account name as his accounts on Instagram and TikTok, and that the account (now deleted) started posting in 2014, before Reid was a candidate.

This is in response to new reports of details of the content of the Tumblr blog account.

But unless there’s more to report regarding Reid’s claim that the account isn’t his, their statements amount to “this thing he denies being involved in is vile, which shows he’s comfortable with this thing.”

The initial political response was from Republicans, but this article quotes two democratic lawmakers who are calling on Reid to drop out.
October 4, 2025 at 2:21 PM
If there’s new evidence, that’s very important, but I didn’t read any in the article. If this is Democratic lawmakers baselessly implying that there’s more connection than we’ve so far seen, shame on them - we deserve and demand better.
