The cynic in me thinks this was all very deliberate. Also it’s strange we now have more aspiring GPs than funded GP places.
In 2013 work was done to establish the future need for GPs
At that time projections estimated the need for 36-44k GPs by 2025
In 2015 5000 more were promised by the incoming Tory Govt by 2019 they increased this to 6000
27500 the reality wasn’t even on the graph
