Ah, this is a bugbear of mine! I see it so many times, and I'm always thinking "why didn't you just compute the width BEFORE the check"?!? I am certain it's often unintentional because it looks bad — e.g. if a box autofits around it and changes width awkwardly.

Jack Attack! This was, I think, my first ever game on a cartridge—a C64 cartridge! It was pretty shallow gameplay-wise, but it obviously scored bonus points by being named after me 😊 And it LOADED INSTANTLY!!!!

I always wanted more rooms to decorate than the handful in your own home (not sure why that wasn't more upgradable, tbh). So if that's now available for free, that's pretty decent. I totally agree with your general criticisms of the game, though.
