Well I would read the book before deciding that we are better off. It's only true if we have a democracy. Or electoral system is broken and it's become quite cheap to buy our politicians. The book argues this leads to more autocratic rule.

According to the rules in this book the reason their unpopular policy are working for them so far is simply because the general population is not who they are trying to please. Which goes right back to @amandamarcotte.bsky.social 's point

Mentoring 2 juniors right now and they feel hopeless without it and I feel like they are too reckless with it. They don't know what they don't know. So their questions are too vague which leads to the LLM to hallucinate more. I'm trying to convince them to use it differently at least

Been Linux gaming for 3 years now and the progression to easier setups and lower complexity in fixing common problems has dropped dramatically. Steam proton and native Linux runtimes are already good enough for 60-70% of gamers to switch and still be able to play their favorite games.
