It is possible that it was a head injury and maybe the helmet would have helped, but still not as much as a truck not hitting you.

The main impact from the proposed regs would be cargo bikes, which would no longer be allowed a 500w motor with the same speed limiter installed. Makes no sense.

In this case the rider was using a share bike - a speed limited rental.

I doubt either the rider or bike should be blamed for this incident.

Having had the time to fully read the article - the rider was on a share ebike which is speed limited to 24 and has a 200 or 250w motor.

Helmets are often missing from these bikes and are often not worn, of course being hit by a truck is not good either way.

Existing laws and limits. 500w was added with the same power cutoff at 25 for pedelecs mainly for cargo bikes. There are no legal ebikes that can do 50-60 km/h.

E-bikes
E-bikes must be mostly propelled by riders - a motor can't be the only source of power and should only help riders, like when going uphill.

Yeah um nah.

Teams can be supportive and collegial but it's not the default.

Chris Minns the premier appears unfamiliar with the laws in NSW. He is suggesting that the limits will be halved, to what they already are.
December 2, 2025 at 8:10 AM
I live in NSW, legal max is 250w/25km/h

The problematic bikes aren't compliant or road legal. It's not a law problem it's an enforcement problem.

Cutting the max speed for legal ebikes won't stop the noncompliant ones. An what, they'd make them 12km/h? I can run faster!

That's why they called them Bolsheviks, because of the bollards.

It's normal in Australia and had been as long as I remember.

Most pedestrian crossings have traffic furniture so you can't park near them. You can't park close to the corner. You'd be surely insane to not want it.

We will handle through enforcement, the fine they will pay should be a great comfort as you and your family contend with your serious injury or death.
December 1, 2025 at 6:08 AM
Sure, just use the eyes in the back of your head to see a car on a different road that you weren't crossing, who wasn't there and wasn't turning when you started to cross...

Of course they'd support trans rights they're not cisformers. They understand that sometimes you might want to be a giant robot and not a car.

I'll probably be thinking about some radio ad jingle I heard too often when I was 13. I don't even need a car radio.

You're doing great work and there should be more of it.

Even if some weird people don't like it.

I liked surviving mars, especially the quantum sonics soundtrack from one of the expansions, absolutely fantastic songs.

I think I'll try the biotech one once I finish my vanilla game, it sounds like it adds a lot.

I just get too invested in my colony!
November 29, 2025 at 8:01 AM
It's on my list but I'm trying to avoid massive time sinks!
November 29, 2025 at 7:46 AM
No, I've just been playing vanilla, I should probably invest in some of the expansions.
November 29, 2025 at 7:44 AM
All I'm playing at the moment is rimworld and that works fine on Linux!
November 29, 2025 at 7:41 AM
You'd think so but I think the hardware cost is a deterrent. Linux desktop usage is substantially up in web browser reports.

It'd be corporate IT shifting that would really matter for MS though.

To say nothing of, at the end of the project...

"Is it working how you want?"

"...I don't know"

Absolutely unforgivable but I still have to go to work and get stuff done!

I think the issue in fiction is that the disability is presented like a character flaw which it is not. It also removes the character trait which means they don't have it now, so what was the point.

But if someone could put my T7 vertebra back to the shape it originally was that'd be fab.
