Things I like: taxes, cats, cities, unions, great public schools in every community. In no particular order.
Everyone deserves a union. Congratulations to Fairfax County workers and SEIU 512! #OrganizeTheSouth #UnionsForAll

There were two herons tonight within eyeshot of the t-pott bridge on my walk with @tedheck.bsky.social .

I'm going to be sad when Brown's Island is temporarily closed, but at least the bridge will stay open. #rva

Today was the biggest rally/march I've seen in #rva since I've moved here, and these people made me extremely happy

Went for a walk with @tedheck.bsky.social and was welcomed home to rva by a heron! (Saw some while out of town but none in Richmond since February.) #HeronOfTheDay

Today's heron (from this morning before the rain) may be the same one as yesterday: it was hanging in almost the same spot. I promise I sometimes see other herons in other #rva locations (the James was high covering many of the rocks the herons often use).

My spouse @tedheck.bsky.social tells me I should post my not-that-good #rva heron-of-the-day photos instead of just taking them. Here's today's, we'll see if I keep going.

Raising the #MinimumWage helps #Virginia families make ends meet and thrive. Thank you to Jonei for telling your story and to Del. Ward for again leading the way. If Gov Youngkin vetoes this bill again, we'll come back next year with a new governor and get it done.

Yeah, pretty sure this is some random garage for a house across the alley from the apartment building. I think this address is the Jewish apartments on Cowardin just after the bridge.

You can see in this figure from the same report how budget cuts during the Great Recession harmed #Virginia students, particularly those in high-poverty school divisions, and how recent good choices by #VaLeg have started to make a difference. This matters because funding boost student outcomes.

New school funding grades just dropped!

Virginia is still getting D grades for funding level and effort, but we've improved to a C in funding distribution (how much state+local funding high poverty vs low poverty school divisions receive).

The new scores are based on 2021-2022 funding.

More Virginia #Amtrak service is definitely one of the state investments that personally benefits me. Napping on the train and waking up to a lovely sunrise beats driving from RVA to DC almost any day. This is #Fredericksburg, btw.

Here's Domino both proud of herself and perhaps a bit freaked out that she managed to get in this box
