Judges have choices. No matter how "painful" it is to make those choices, they still get to go home and sleep in their own bed with their family at night.
November 7, 2025 at 4:09 PM
We talk a lot in our data about judicial discretion. This is a case where a person did everything right and Judge Schreiber is still ripping him apart from his family after finally getting the chance to be with them again.
November 7, 2025 at 4:09 PM
Judge Schreiber orders HWOB, despite his commentary saying he hates to do this because the father has obviously been doing everything he’s asked to do, and it’s painful to do this when you’re right here in front of me and come in with family and everything.
November 7, 2025 at 4:09 PM
Case 2: A father who is following every single rule after being locked up for a long time and is at long last spending time with his family.

November 7, 2025 at 4:09 PM

JUDGES (cont'd):

While there may be general boundaries of judicial rulings, individual judges can make choices that are wildly different than each other, even when presented with similar cases.

"Judicial discretion" is an important concept to always keep in mind.
