Painfully nostalgic for the 90s.
We will do fuck all if America attacks Greenland. Starmer will continue to wank on about the importance of diplomacy, historic ties, time for cool heads. All that crap about how Starmer played a blinder with Trump last year. All he did was make us look desperate and pathetic.

Yes, there is a time and a place for cool heads and trying to keep your 'biggest ally' on side. Guess what? Europe is being threatened, NATO undermined and the US are no longer our ally. And yet it's as if nothing's changed if you listen to Starmer.

Enjoyed that very much.

The paradox of Badenoch's personal bounce is it made her position more secure, that in turn made Jenrick's leadership ambitions less likely, furthering the chance of a damaging defection that might well undo (or worse) any progress.

VAR really is the hill I'm willing to die on. To use that cringeworthy expression. It's hard to express how shit it is. And no quickening up decisions or letting fans in the stadium hear how they reach them will change it.

Most of his suggestions since retiring have been crap. But this one's worth considering. So of course the FA and UEFA oppose it. Interestingly, FIFA backs it.

British FAs and European governing body believe former Arsenal manager’s ‘daylight’ proposal, which would give attackers more leeway, is too drastic a change

Johns piece well worth reading, definitely one of best and most clarifying about apparent mismatch between opinion and data I’ve read in past year . www.ft.com/content/7488...
The great crime paradox
Disorder is rising in public consciousness. Is it rising in reality?

This is exactly what we heard in our focus groups, few thought that London had become Gotham city and were proud of their city - and didn’t wanted it talked down. But they were also frustrated by what is often (mistakenly imo) called low level crime

Clearly tackling violent crime should be a priority, but it is also as John says often not random and it affects fewer people. Perceptions of rising crime are driven by the visible disorderly crimes shows and also inc fare dodging, lime bike theft, which some take as breakdown of social contract.

None of the reasons people give for why kids need smartphones come close when weighed up against the multitude of reasons why they don't. It would be great for once in the modern world if adults behaved like adults and did what was best for children.

They'd all be so much happier, freer, less weighed down or forced to grow up too soon. It's not fair to give something so toxic to such young and impressionable minds.

Never mind social media. I'd ban smartphones for all under 16s. They are doing huge damage to kids. Rewiring their brains as some have said. Let kids be allowed to be kids. If they need a phone, get them a 'dumb' phone.
