I have had some horrible experiences as a woman when it comes to healthcare, but when I was in labor, I was not treated that way. At a little BFE hospital in GA, of all places. This is not only an affront to medicine but to humanity, and it needs to end, like yesterday

The viral video only heightens the point in real time: a lack of urgency and concern leads to worse outcomes when they are entirely preventable.

Every advocate, clinician, policy‐maker, and community organizer needs to hold this visible because childbirth shouldn’t be a systemic hazard — especially not when race is the risk factor.

Why it matters 🧐

This disparity isn’t about “bad luck” or individual choices. It’s about:

👉🏼 Unequal access to quality maternity care
👉🏼 Implicit biases in how Black women’s concerns are taken (or not) seriously
👉🏼 Systemic structures that treat Black bodies as less urgent, visible, and valuable.

🔹 In 2023, Black women died at a rate of 50.3 per 100,000 births; more than 3 times the rate for White women (14.5).
🔹In 2022, the gap was 49.5 vs. 19.0 per 100,000.
🔹These are not just numbers: these are real people whose lives are being cut short. In too many cases, it is a preventable tragedy.

Will they listen? Likely not. At least not right away.

Different faith. Different era. Same underlying fear. 😮‍💨

We keep proving that #bigotry doesn’t retire, it just updates its talking points. 🫩

Which is funny because when #JFK ran as openly #Catholic, people said the same thing:
“But he’s Catholic! His loyalty is to the #Pope!” 🤬

Fast-forward to today, and that argument would be a nonstarter.

The irony in that statement is entirely lost on this guy.
