Book #11 is The New Warriors Classic Vol 2. This collection is as strong, if not stronger than volume 1. The characters development & complexity of plot, especially in the 2nd half of the book, was thought provoking and provided an ethical & moral argument I'm still sitting with. #winterofintrigue

Book #10 is Scarlett Vol 1: Special Mission. It's a much welcomed return to the G.I. Joe universe with Scarlett at the center of the action. The book is well written, the familiar characters feel fresh, and the danger is real. While reading these books I'm happily reminded why I love this series!

Book #9 is In Freedom's Shadow by Robert Hilliard. This is a fictional account of a slave named John Scoball who served as a spy in the Pinkerton's secret service. Although this is historical fiction, it is a true spy story and is action packed. I give it a 10! #winterofintrigue #books #spyfiction

Book #8 is actually more of a novella. Derrick Ferguson's For Violent Fires That Soon Burn Out is a standalone that takes place in the world of Fortune McCall. Unfortunately this is the last you see of these characters, but the story, focusing on his cousin Tracy is full of action & heart. #pulp
Book #7 for 2026 is The Adventures of Fortune McCall by Derrick Ferguson. I love Ferguson's Dillon series, I feel a similar affection for Fortune Unfortunately, Derrick is no longer with us, but what a talented writer he was. If you like Doc Savage & The Shadow, you need this in your collection.

Book #4 is Body Count: A Danny Diamond Erotic Mystery by Logan Black. Honestly, there's no mystery in this novella, but there's plenty of heat. This reads like 40s noir, but the sex is raw. Black has a talent for capturing the noir style while keeping the erotic parts authentic. #winterofintrigue

Book #3 for 2026 is Doubling Down by Dan Kemp. This is a notable step up from book 1. That's not to say that it isn't good because it is. This time out, the action is intense and unhinged, but, be warned, there unexpected moments of dark humor & reality that gives this book a degree of authenticity.
