The location was Manang, 3500 meters above sea level. I was there in early December - the cold season in Nepal - where nighttime temperatures fell below minus 25°C at night.
Without full winter gear I would not have survived.

I've seen people throwing up after smoking too much in Dutch coffee shops. As you say, moderation is the key.
