Everything I've read about it sounds ethical to me.

It's come to a point where I leave *any* conversation talking about Marathon because I'll get grief for liking the game.

It's exhausting and it makes me respect you less.

If you knew what I knew, or even still, if you bothered to look at the original trilogy at all, you would know that this game has a solid fanbase behind it and a wonderful world dripping with atmosphere and lore.
