Four counties said they'd terminate their agreements with ICE after WTTW News reached out. See Jackson County's revised USMS below.
The Jackson County Sheriff sent a copy of an updated contract without an ICE rider that was signed four days after WTTW News sent an inquiry. Contract reads: 11. EXCEPT AS PROVIDED SPECIFICALLY HEREIN, ALL TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE IGA DOCUMENT REFERRED TO IN BLOCK 1, REMAIN UNCHANGED. TERMS OF THIS MODIFICATION: The purpose of this modification is to: 1. Remove U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) as an authorized rider to the Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) listed in Block #19 on Page 1 in compliance with the TRUST ACT and the ILLINOIS WAY FORWARD ACT. NO OTHER TERMS OR CONDITIONS ARE AFFECTED BY THIS CHANGE
