Just throwing this out too, Replicant is also the goat. Both games are practically tied for #1 of all time for me, but I think Automata barely ekes out the lead because of the profound impact it had on me, considering I'd missed out on the original.
Definitely both games fill #1 and #2 slot though.

It's been like, 5 years roughly since I first played through NieR: Automata fully, and it instantly became my favorite game when I fully finished it. I worried for a while, since it had been a minute that maybe recency bias played a big part of that, but thankfully, fears unfounded. still the GOAT.

RF Guardians of Azuma is exactly what I'd hoped!
Started the bulky grind of the Dragon Temple in Metaphor
Began my journey into Trails in the Sky, loving it so far
And just now, was able to play a bit more NieR Automata.

I think technologically speaking, now is the perfect time for the Steam Machine to make a triumphant return.
