Weakening it would open the door for lawmakers to redraw districts that erase Black political power across statehouses nationwide. Attacks on voting rights are intentional, and the consequences for Black communities would be severe.

Our history is ours to protect. If we don't preserve it, document it, and teach it ourselves, it will disappear. This is the work: honoring our ancestors by refusing to let their stories be erased.

The National Park Service already rewrote the Underground Railroad webpage to erase Harriet Tubman, demolished Black Lives Matter Plaza, and federal agencies are scrubbing Black history from their websites.

Our ancestors showed us the blueprint—now it's our turn to pick up the mantle and keep fighting back. Our economic power is organizing power. When we're intentional with our dollars, we build a world where we are not erased, neglected, or crushed by fascism.

That same spirit of collective action lives in us today. We just organized a boycott targeting corporations that abandon diversity and back policies harming our communities.

For 381 days, 40,000 Black residents refused to ride segregated buses. They walked miles in the heat and cold, organized carpools, and supported Black-owned cab services. They sacrificed comfort and safety to fight for dignity and justice—and they won.
