THREAD.

3 years ago, with no warning, a brilliant orange farm cat wandered over from the draughty barn where he had been living, in rural Cornwall, and decided he wanted to live with us instead.

We decided to call him Jim.

This is the first photo I took of him, on that night: December 1st, 2022.

Great top 10 from last years Wellington Film Society screenings and, for me, the number one was a masterwork of restoration… not to mention a case study in use of frame.

Can’t wait for this years season to kick off!

The film is of course a masterpiece, but if you’ve not seen the play (oh boy you should - NT’s restage is good) and you can access this steamer (I can’t) this looks well worth a squizz!

Nice!

I still need to see #IfIhadLegs… and am stoked to see the wonderful #Misericordia in this list.

I think my film of the year remains Jafar Panahi’s amazing furious hilarious unsettling and righteous #ItWasJustAnAccident.

It’s just SO good.

Heading back to NZ from the awful pain of our cuzzies across the ditch, a horrific day here in Sydney. Tonight it’s either Princess Bride or Stand by Me. Probably SBM.

What a gifted filmmaker, and what joy for us his legacy still offers. It may offer some solace.
