He/him. Calm on the outside. Museum developer, poet in my youth. Against fascism. Jaded but not disengaged. Appreciate why Titanic's band kept playing as the ship went down. Profile pic: Mo'ohtavetoo'o (Black Kettle), Southern Cheyenne peacemaker.

Metacomet's wife and children were sold into slavery, and in the fall of 1678, at the conclusion of the war, colonists declared a 'day of thanksgiving' to celebrate Metacomet's defeat and beheading during 'King Philip's War'

Jimi Hendrix was born on today's date.
Had he lived, he'd be 83 years old.

A half-dozen Democrats and veterans: Publicly reminding citizens and armed forces personnel that the Military Code of Obedience demands loyalty to the Constitution.

Team Trump: They're against us.

Me: Damn right they are. Which makes them patriots.

Trump dropping hints about a covert operation is perfectly on-brand.

Some days I think we're just cooked. Some days I can't fathom how long it will take us to recover from all this.

As most of y'all know, 'L'État, c'est moi' is a pronouncement attributed to France's King Louis XIV and translates to 'the State, it is me' (it's widely believed to be apocryphal).

But Trump honestly believes this of himself. That belief is what makes him so enraged when others can't see it.

To be fair, Trump really does do a good job of remembering to keep the back of his right hand covered.

1975 was such a quirky moment of transition in pop music. Still clinging to the old days of Frankie Valli and Neil Sedaka, smack in the middle of embracing Elton John, and stepping gingerly into the awaiting dominance of the Bee Gees and disco. From Billboard's Top Hot 100 songs of 1975:

So many men's facial hair / beard styles.

But there's one idea that, as far as I know, only found a significant measure of acceptance in the 19th century: hair on the neck only — clean-shaven face and hairy below the chin and jawline. The neck beard.

What I'd tell Boebert:

If there's evidence against Democrats, put those Democrats on trial.

If there's evidence against Republicans, put those Republicans on trial.

If there's evidence against billionaires, put those billionaires on trial.

This is not difficult. And it's not a political game.

After 15 long years, the Republicans finally announce their robust answer to the Affordable Care Act, and it's to let citizens fend for themselves against the insurance companies.

Changes in population in the eight largest U.S. metropolitan statistical areas (MSAs) from 2020 to 2024. Not sure what these data all mean, but I was a bit surprised by the remarkable growth in urban/suburban Texas.
