This is a very creative interpretation of the sequence not necessarily indicative of what actually happens, but heavily inspired by specifically this line; "Blood trails behind Quaritch as he moves, an ivory skeleton glowing through blue skin." the lower panel is from later in the sequence, when Jake could've either been full dreaming, or instead seeing a very skewed version of an actual conversation him and Quaritch are having -- His mind takes them into an alternate world where Tommy never died, and his first meeting with Quaritch was at fancy party in the near-future, where they both still have their human bodies and bond together at a bar. During the conversation, Jake catches a glimpse of himself in a mirror -- I'll let the line speak for itself. "He sees himself in the long pearl framed mirror behind the bar. Face a swirl of blues and pale streaks. Gold dusting his cheeks and his brows, a slim gold collar around his neck. He reaches up to run his fingers along it, but nothing's there. His fingers come away with stardust and indigo." He's not actually shirtless in the scene I believe, but I drew him that way next to a fully suited young Quaritch anyway. 100% creative license at work there, bc I Have to imagine those shimmery stripes everywhere. Their eyes are cut off from the image, but they are smiling and posed openly, Quaritch leaning towards Jake suggestively.
