The causality goes both ways though so pathogens promote plant biodiversity but plant biodiversity promotes pathogen biodiversity, untangling those too things is going to be difficult and is probably beyond the scope of a 3 year PhD.

Those are questions I'd like to answer, but this network is only from one restored site. Evidence from North America suggests more diverse grasslands have higher pathogen diversity but lower total abundance which fits with theory (think of monocultures being v susceptible).

This is a restoration site in the south of County Down. It is a neutral grassland with medium plant diversity (about 10 species/m²). Some of these are rather insignificant looking leaf spots. The Peronosporas are subtle too. You can see my records from the site at www.inaturalist.org/observations...

This is a restoration site in the south of County Down. It is a neutral grassland with medium plant diversity (about 10 species/m²). Some of these are rather insignificant looking leaf spots.
