Great film. One of the best noirs.

Two great underappreciated films. Delphine Seyrig is one of the most interesting actresses in film.

Admittedly, I didn’t get this film for a long time. My advice is, watch more European films. American films generally tell you how to feel and what to think. Directors like Antonioni, Haneke, Ceylan, Petri give you the awesome responsibility of thinking for yourself.

Antonioni is one of the very few masters. Spend some time getting to know his work. His films are very rewarding. His last scenes are incomparable. Especially ‘Blow-Up’, ‘The Passenger’ and ‘L’Eclisse’.

In my opinion, ‘Blowout’ was a weak homage to ‘The Conversation’, which was a solid homage to ‘Blow-Up’.

A good one. Also, Argento’s ‘Deep Red’ is a highlight.

2) The plot concerns a murder that may or may not have occurred. He believes he’s captured reality in his photographs. When the mimes knock him the ‘ball’ and he tosses it back, it’s an acknowledgement that he will never know for certain what was real and what was his imagination.

My two answers:

1) A recurring theme of Antonioni’s films is the characters’ inability to connect meaningfully in the modern world. Whether the woman in the photo, the models, the band, the mimes, every human connection is fleeting and superficial—a point driven home by his profession…

My favourite film. In large part because it was the first film I saw that asked me to think. It changed the way I watch film and it changed what I want from a film. Very hard to beat Italian cinema of the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s.

Meanwhile, Trump is Napoleon, the pig right out of ‘Animal Farm’.

Because Bezos has more in common with the Saudi princes than he does with average Americans.

So…why didn’t you say that 4 months ago?
