Why does Canva have the slowest auth system I've ever seen in the new Affinity app? Do this in the background, why do I need to look at this splash screen for 5 seconds every time I open the app 🫠

Quick Notes has another update out today!
If you’d like to keep and download your notes as audio, now you can. It’s a one-time paid unlock, and you get it for life.

The blatant racism on the right is pretty shocking. The replies on X are largely agreeing too. Every Muslim is a terrorist, apparently.
Meanwhile, not all white peole are little bitches, but Eric Daugherty is. See, that’s how you criticize 🫡

Finally, it was a little confusing what you were copying before, so now you will always copy the text you're looking at: original or cleaned up. The UI notification also makes this clear as day.

I've also added a little animation that reacts to your voice so you can be confident that you're being heard.

Next up are custom instructions for the clean up feature. Enter whatever custom prompt you want to tweak the output to your needs. I even threw in a couple preset you can use to get started or spur inspiration.

Quick Notes 1.2 is out now! It's a very nice release (IMO) with a few things I think you'll enjoy.
Nearest and dearest to me is the new diff view. When you clean up your transcript, now you can see what the local LLM did to your original transcript.

My next app is called Quick Notes, and it should be out relatively soon (I just started working on it Friday, give me a break 😂). I love making apps for myself, and this one fixes a challenge I've been annoyed by for a long time.

More to do, but I've revved the theme on my blog. My old theme was a bit too busy, and this new one gets me the sidebar I want (look at that list of side projects 😅) but with a simpler overall design. I hope you like it!

The Apple Watch Ultra 3 is better in a few ways to previous Ultras, but obviously it isn't a must-buy for almost anyone who already owns an Ultra. That said, the added battery life and improved always-on mode make this something I'm glad I have personally.

There are a bunch of graphs in the post, but here’s one showing the iPhone Air on 4 test runs. How often do you see a phone that’s actually more battery efficient on cellular than WiFi? The C1X may actually be as efficient as Apple claimed.

Someone posts a picture of your newborn baby on X and is inundated with racist attacks.
Paul Graham asks why this happens on X and that maybe it’s time to clean things up.

Here's the year over year percentage change in thickness.
the iPhone 4, 5, and 6 were big years for thinning things down, but it's been a slow upward climb (minus the 12 Pro) ever since.

Sometimes I see people who are surprised the latest iPhone is actually thicker than the one that came before. It might surprise you to hear iPhones have been getting thicker for 11 years.
