The same could be certainly said of our current administration and those of many states. The book-banning, anti-DEI curriculum, ousting of "woke" faculty etc.. The right-wing is trying sanitize education of anything critical or unsupportive of a Christian Nationalist ideology.

I wonder if the Lead-crime Hypothesis has merit in a lot of school children behaviors and interactions of the previous generations. Bullying, disruptive behavior, impulsive risky behavior, classroom violence etc..
