One of the previous MoD was ridiculed for weeks by the conservative press because she wore high-heeled shoes instead of combat boots during a visit to German soldiers in Mali, which basically consisted of 2 hrs stepping out of an airplane and talk to politicians after a few handshakes with troops 🤷♂️

The main problem I have here is not how other countries handle this - that's the problem of the people there - but that such things are used to demand change here in Europe with the argument "Look, how quick these guys can do this and we don't"
