Day 6 of #spielmas found us hosting a New Year’s Eve party, but we managed to play a couple of games of Splendor before things got super busy. Thanks to @haoleboygames.com for hosting another great year of @spielmas.com and thanks to everyone who participated and shared your fun photos!

I was surprised for day 5 of #spielmas when my daughter, unprompted, grabbed Planet and Calico from my shelf and asked to play them. Planet has been sitting unplayed for a while, and I’d been wanting to teach my girls to play Calico, so we dove right in.

Day 4 of #spielmas found me home alone for most of the day but I didn’t let that stop me from celebrating. I played an epic game of Final Girl that came down to the final health tokens. After dinner, everybody was pretty tired but we managed to play a quick game of Flip 7.

We broke out a classic for #spielmas day 3. I haven’t played Carcassonne in 5 years so I sat down with my wife and kids and played a couple games. My youngest daughter won the first game and my eldest daughter won the second.

Day 2 of #spielmas was celebrated with family over a game of The Gallerist. Quite a bit heavier than the games we played yesterday, but I’ve been wanting to get this to the table again for some time.

As we close out 2024, we also close out the fifth annual @spielmas.bsky.social festival. Tonight we celebrated with some friends and played a few games, ate some delicious food, and indulged in a few cocktails.

We had another great @spielmas.bsky.social night at home with Apropos of Movies, Go Nuts for Donuts, and another game of Monkey Palace, this time with all 4 of us. Only one more night of #spielmas remains, and with some friends coming over for New Year’s Eve festivities, it should be a good time.

Day 4 of @spielmas.bsky.social is upon us and I had a chance to sit down and learn Monkey Palace, a game that utilizes Lego for components. The rulebook was a little difficult for us to parse, but the @watchitplayed.tv video on YouTube is excellent and answered all our questions.

Day 3 of @spielmas.bsky.social was a busy day for us, but I found time to sit down with my daughters after dinner for a light game of That’s Not a Hat, a game I received in this year’s @boardgamegeek.com Secret Santa exchange. We played a total of 4 rounds and loved it! #spielmas #boardgames

Day 2 of @spielmas.bsky.social was celebrated with Nusfjord and Nova Luna, two of my favorite Uwe Rosenberg games. I first learned about SpielMas while attending a virtual Nova Luna game with @haoleboygames.bsky.social back in 2020, so this felt like a nice return to the festival’s roots for me. ⛄️

We celebrated the first day of @spielmas.bsky.social by revisiting the classic real-time dice game Escape: The Curse of the Temple. My wife and both my daughters made it out alive while I got stuck a few tiles away from the exit. #boardgames
