Xmas gift problems?

Something for a Leeds fan who still talks about Strach,Batts,Speed and Macca, a mercurial Frenchman and a windy April lunchtime in Sheffield. #LS92

Man City 0 Leeds 1, August 1971. The game which has subsequently prompted a lot of debate over the colour of #LUFC’s shorts…were they red? Orange? The likeliest theory is they were maroon, and borrowed from City’s away kit!

Xmas gift problems?

Something for an #80sLeeds fan who thinks 89/90 was #LUFC’s greatest ever season, and still gets flashbacks to that Dean Court dustbowl on every hot Bank Holiday. #Bournemouth90

Nice imagery but it’s a wrong un! This is the NW corner rather than centre of the West Stand and the lettering isn’t quite the same as the original. It was the frontage used for the Damned United film and I believe the letters are now outside the Hope Inn, LS9?

The answer was the queue was for an FA cup 4th round tie against champions Everton in January 1964. The match was drawn 1-1 in front of 48,000, with Everton equalising from a disputed and twice taken 80th minute penalty. Leeds lost the replay 2-0 in front of 67,000 at Goodison.
A familiar sight at Elland Road in the 60s and 70s- a big queue for cup tickets. Can anyone guess the match? Clue- it’s not for a final!

It was a tricky one this as it’s changed so much, took me a while to work it out but the faint Imperial Hotel sign on the tower on the right is the clue. Photo was taken on Briggate from near Whitelocks, looking down towards Boar Lane. #LeedsHistory

Looking busy in town this lunchtime! The bobbies seem to be keeping an eye on the lads with the hats and sticks mobbing up outside the tea dealers, the road is blocked with stage coaches and someones dog’s escaped. Anyone recognise where in Leeds it is?

Never seen this before- the famous photo of John Charles and a gang of schoolboys at the gate of his in-laws house in Middleton Park Grove, revisited 50 years later…

Leeds weren’t great in the mid 80s but at least we were a handful at corners. Big George, Bairdy and Linighan prepare to gatecrash the Boro goal in October 85. #nineteen85

Heavy night at Nouveau boys? Or maybe Sniffer and Jack overdid it at the Woodman doms night before this early morning photo-call in
their new tracksuits?

Leeds United Fan Forum from 1978- Gill Hall aiming to be the Bramley Pam Ayers, David Allen trying to cadge a lift and Kevin Burrows with his new kit idea. Wonder if Derek continued to travel from the Wirral after relegation?

Meet Harty. Likes Carlos Santana, Reading (assume books not the town) and MASH (the TV show not the potato dish?) Dislikes gardening and hooliganism (bet he wasn’t happy about Ferdinand, Wise and the Blue Peter garden!) Ambitions look a bit optimistic for late #70sLeeds!

1968- wonder if this was the first ever ‘beam-back game’ at Elland Road? Assume the ‘giant screens’ were on the pitch…did anyone go to it?

The King’s return? I’m guessing this is a late 50s visit from John Charles after he’d gone to Italy. Leeds players are, I think, Grenville Hair, Gerry Francis, Big Jack, ??, Archie Gibson?, Chris Crowe, George Meek. Not sure who the other bloke in the suit is?

Iconic mid-80s Elland Road shot - Baird, WGK shirt and permed long-back, scoring against top of the table Oxford in April 85 in front of the Kop and nearly empty Lowfields seats. All that’s missing is the copper stood on the grass bank! #nineteen85

I’ll be impressed if anyone can name this game…even more impressed if anyone was there! Clues- Leeds team included Lukic in goal, Connor, Barnes, Sabella and Graham upfront and I think it was Brian Greenhoff who gave the penalty away…

Saturday night in the early 70s you’d most likely find the #LUFC stars at Club Nouveau on East Parade or at Cinderellas Rockerfellas, Merrion Way. Looking at the girl’s expression maybe Sniffer and Mick the Mover were nicknames earned on the dance floor not the pitch?!
