Climate scientist, meteorologist, resiliency, legos, snark, cats, horrible person, South Dakota Mines prof. All opinions are mine, but I'll blame my employers for my typos.
I think the Times is trolling you.

This is what you get when you train an AI by letting it use the internet.

My only gripe has been the lack of professional-friendly "shapes." But, I can actually *use* KN's "animations" compared to PPT's awful ones, and KN's plays nicer with Adobe fonts than PPT, so I can comply with our univ's "communications policy" like Veronical Lake surrendered to the Japanese.

Wow! It IS funny when this happens to other people.

Didn’t Biden do that last year?

It’s a tribute to the town’s resiliency master plan the way it rebuilds itself every 24 hours. That or rioters are very discrete.

Wrong football but … lightning WOULD be cool.

OK now you got me started: This is a REAL slide set from an old COMET workshop on hydromet @ NCAR (NOT MINE!!) circa the late 90s when Powerpoint was new.

I'm not sure why but the "typewriter leter-by-letter" feature isn't on one of the slides. And yes, it made the clackity clack noise.

Yup... Every program needs a presentation for that.

The new ones just aren’t the same. God I miss the pleather sliding case and the clear feel of pushing the buttons down.

What's more, have any of these doomer-zoomers SEEN our climate change textbooks from the late 80s and 90s? (I pull it out about this time each semester, I do my environ modeling class.)
September 12, 2025 at 6:22 PM
I'm doing the traditional 2-layer Earth's radiation budget model in Stella, for my systems modeling class, where I break out my REAL climate doomer textbook from grad school! Back then, global warming was the BEST-case scenario. And all my students can say is "he hand-drew all these graphs!?"

I should defer with someone who can discuss the folklore &0 spiritual significance of the various PNW water creatures but they aren’t “here be dragons” European map monsters since they’re present there enough to be familiar creatures and represented as such. There’s lots of photos of them out there.

I miss my old textbooks. They were so much more optimistic. (Cheaper, too).

We warned you all, some of us since 2011. Meanwhile, you might want to have a word with all those pretty people in Santa Monica. Noem can't win reelection in a state where incumbency is king without stealing from her Democratic opponent's platform. But Pee-Wee German is the pride and joy of SoCal.

When you get to Congress don’t let her forget how she voted to teach astrology in science classrooms. (Unless Trump throws her under the bus first.)

If their base were to find out how DEI also includes rural students, first-generation students & veterans, they would just find another acronym to lie about... like "ABET." They've already admitted that it's all an empty smokescreen for culture wars, it's just rebranded "CRT."

So you can’t. Thanks is for playing.
