Thinking back it tastes plasticy but really good because the only times I've ever had it was when
1) i had a cheap disposable water bottle that had been left in the sun and
2) i was thirsty enough to drink it anyway and not just wait for nicer water

I've not had that using safari on ipad. Mine just craps out entirely and fails half the time (and never the half that I remembered to copy my alt text so I have to entirely retype it again)

My favourite theory is that by the time a tumour gets big enough to hurt a whale, the tumour itself is weakened by other tumours which is called "hypercancer"
Why don't all whales have cancer? A novel hypothesis resolving Peto's paradox - PubMed
Larger organisms have more potentially carcinogenic cells, tend to live longer and require more ontogenic cell divisions. Therefore, intuitively one might expect cancer incidence to scale with body size. Evidence from mammals, however, suggests that the cancer risk does not correlate with body size. …

Sounds like you need to find some Australian moots. I'd offer suggestions but I've yet to meet one with good taste
January 23, 2026 at 9:28 AM
I guess it's more that there's a range of canceriness that any species can survive and bigger species either evolved a way to reach that threshold or didn't survive long enough for us to start counting tumours
