Someone did. It was first the swastika and the Celtic cross (here usually associated with JNR, Juventud Nacional Revolucionaria).

The digital v. film thing is the same as vinyl v. CDs.

There is *some* difference in that, yes, grain is real on film scans. But that has often been shown to not be discernible compared to digital with grain added (well).

The issue is unthinking, over-reliance on post-production.

And everyone is weirdly obsessed with having a razor thin DOF when it isn’t purposeful. Or insanely soft lighting and smoothing to the extent that texture no longer exists.

The Revenant was shot digitally on an ARRI Alexa 65 with natural light. And it is gorgeous.

The problem is not digital, it is that modern filmmaking is often about kicking decisions down the road to post. So it’s insipid and uninspired.
