We should do some sort of "Fandom Friday" ... where we encourage folks to buy from fandom creators instead of chain "black friday" stuff.

Running around all December like some insane combination of Oprah Winfrey and Jokey Smurf...

"You get some extra size!"

"And YOU get some extra size!"

"Grow out of your chairs!"

Time for another #OldArtMonday

Here is "Topher, the world's cutest otter" -- but giant.

The pencils are from 1988 by @kencougr.bsky.social

The inked image is from 1989 by Topher's creator Deal Whitley.

Ken would have fun drawing people's characters giant with the byline "slightly altered."

A full hour before the Elvis/Christmas set we already had audience members seated. Wow.

I think we’ve tapped a demographic that is not the usual orchestra crowd.

Also, there’s a cute kid in full Elvis outfit in the front row.
November 22, 2025 at 12:23 AM
Oh hey. Speaking of music stuff, how many of you have had a chance to play an Elvis-Christmas orchestra concert?

I've played two. Which isn't a lot. But I am surprised I've played two of them.

So. at the tail end of 3 weeks of 12 rehearsals and 4 concerts... the final item is Alumni Band. Apparently the college social media team is having fun using pictures of some of us old-farts to stir up interest.

29 years later. Still have proper horn angles without thinking about it.

Missed this earlier ... let's do an #OldArtMonday

"Hey! Can I get a copy of that?"

Scanners were rare/expensive in the early days. It was more common to have access to a photocopier.

These @kencougr.bsky.social pencils from a 1993 blackbook-entry arrive here via a photocopy. Burn-line and all.

I almost feel bad for the music accounts that just auto-followed me for using words like "audiophile" and "genre-bending."
November 18, 2025 at 2:53 AM
Hey @firr.bsky.social ...

Do you happen to own this genre-bending finger-licking-good audiophile suppository?

Asking for a friend...

We've been renovating the kitchen. After half-a-year of using only a toaster oven, we have a full-sized oven again

Did some test baking tonight: Banana breb and coconut pie.

3rd concert. Final one for Candide.

Only 4 rehearsals and 1 concert left out of this “surge” over 3 weeks.

Let's cross #OldArtMonday and #WerewolfWednesday ...

It may seem splitting hairs now, but in the early days there was more than a little discourse from werewolf fans on what made a lycanthrope vs a furry.

Millie likes this box...

Can you guess which box has to go back to IKEA?

It's gonna make Millie sad...

That last line? Musical TF into a donkey. Literally the “hee-haw” interval 6 times in a row.

No one tell @firr.bsky.social

Intermission. Good crowd for a bad-weather day.
November 9, 2025 at 8:45 PM
Concert time. Free Veterans Day concert with the union band and orchestra chorus. 20 tunes. Beautiful old hall.
November 9, 2025 at 6:54 PM
And this fellow … his name is Deadward.

Again, you can blame @suedeer.bsky.social for that name.

He’s wearing the kilt/tartan that matches the local college. (It was founded by Scottish presbyters and has a pipe band. )
November 8, 2025 at 6:47 PM
Just a heads up, everyone... @suedeer.bsky.social came up with the name for our werewolf.

Meet our Halloween friend: Lawn Cheney Jr.

4 concerts and 13 rehearsals across 3 ensembles in 3 weeks.

Also, full time work.

This is fine.

Ran across this pic of when we installed a corporate firewall but forgot to block the upper ports...
October 29, 2025 at 5:26 PM
So now... for #OldArtMonday we have a mystery! It was filed in a Ken Cougr collection of art, but Ken has said this is not his doodle.

Now I went to Macro dinners starting at about 2000 Anthrocon. We never went to a "Charley's"

Anyone got the story on this? Anyone know who drew it? Which con?
