It's literally listed as a complex pirate state in Battletech universe for a reason. that's what it evolved out of.

While I agree with this sentiment in its entirety- that's a task that's *much* easier said than done given how pervasive the technology is, and could result in a ton of false-positives.

It's really frustrating how one technology can be so damaging.

I remember when someone tried to tell me that the Magistracy of Canopus was supposed to be some kind of utopian society at one point that was a positive place, which was its niche in Battletech. IE: It embodied mostly only good things.

That was. A conversation. :|

We only got to see the parts of them that were negative for a while, because the stories were framed from the perspective of their enemies.

It's easy to exaggerate the bad and not moderate views on it.

Some people really do believe that the IP will be taken over by some new, high budget dev. It's just delu.

Nah, these people actually believe that MW will get picked up by a big studio that 'loves the game', without ever elaborating as to who.

Even if there might be overlap- it's not actually the same crowd, and its driven by different motivations.

I dunno if I'd say everyone who likes memes in Battletech are neofascists, but memes are viewed as an easy way to digest information without having to think about something.

The problem is- most battletech memes are either tired, inaccurate, or just out of context.

Eh. It's more that even when the lore supports it vaguely, it's just weird to read because there is a massive disconnect from what the setting or game itself shows.

It's not even accusations of wokeness or whatever. This has been around for years now, it's a belief that there's someone else waiting in the wings to give them a perfect battletech game that PGI will never give them-

Totally unable to process that this is it, for the moment.

It's constant wishlisting by a band of people who just want things from Mechwarrior that they'll never get- but think it's because PGI's mean/bad.
