Hello! I'm a Gold ENnie-winning (2024) writer and TTRPG designer. I run Curious Chimeras, an indie TTRPG company in Singapore, and freelance as a writer, editor, and consultant for Evil Hat, Paizo, Pelgrane, Renegade, and Wizards of the Coast.

So yeah in conclusion check out the book it's amazing (the elementals and dragons are so great) and I had lots of fun consulting, writing, and designing for it. 10/10 would have late calls with @brianyaksha.bsky.social again on "it's all Irori's fault" lol or geeking on Rakshasas, Asuras, Yakshas.

4 (continued) so if you run a horror story where there's themes of Runelords or other fleshwarping mages seeking to turn people and their emotions into so much useful sin-powered chattel, remember, a mysterious and pulpy dark hero might emerge to brutally challenge these scholars and horrors!

4 (continued) In a little world building feat I'm happy with, I could connect and locate these stories of biohorrors seeking to be oddly human within Golarion too, by placing the Atrixyls as rare survivors of the Runewells and Runelords' magical fleshwarping processes... that created the Sinspawn!

4. (Continued) And so I wrote my love letter, the Atrixyl, to these weird organic liminal horrors struggling against the organisations and elites who created them; neither human nor monstrous, always opposing conditions of their making; indirectly, thus, to protect others from such dark fates too!

4. Finally, I'm a Kamen Rider fan, horror-filled Showa and various "mature" projects like Shin and Black Sun; body horror, evil occult-science-industrial elites, etc. also fond of Guyver and other biologically-transformed Byronic (anti)superheroes... So when I was allowed to write a new aberration..

3. (Continued) So if an angel can empty Hells of lost souls and the repentant, esp impt in a magical economy where soul trafficking exists.. Then there is chance in games and stories to break Hell's aura of finality, and also to challenge what I see as a glamour of Evil (people "deserve" Hell, etc).

3. (Continued) So some of these abilities can be found in the writeup, and most of all it's fun cos I get to question some of the implicit Judeo-Christian assumptions on morality and metaphysics in fantasy gaming; the soteriology of Buddhism and other Dharmic faiths does not accept Hell as eternal.

3. (continued) The Śramaṇa can travel across various planes without access to planar keys, and allow movement for the repentant as well from the Lower Planes; there are stories in Japan of children being tormented in hell by demons, and how Jizō Bosatsu throws his shawl out to hide these poor kids.

3. (Continued) The Śramaṇa, or "Renouncer Angel", is inspired by stories of Kṣitigarbha Bodhisattva (地藏菩萨 in Chinese), who swears to empty the Hells. In Japan he's seen at roadsides and shrines as the red-scarfed Jizō Bosatsu, who guards and guides dead children. The Śramaṇa was really fun to write!

3. (Continued) The Tennin, or "Brocade Angel" continues my attempt to place the word "brocade" in Pathfinder 2e as much as possible, and while the Japanese name links it to Buddhist devas, my inspiration was the stories of Nüwa in Daoism, the Chinese mother goddess who repaired the Pillars of Heaven

2. Worked with @donatoclassic.bsky.social on the Garuda redesign; mostly provided some inputs on how to make Garuda feel more, well, true in majesty and spirit to their South, Southeast, and East Asian story traditions
3. Designed two angels; the Tennin (天人 in Chinese) and Śramaṇa (沙門 in Chinese)..

This inexpressible, impossibly varied confluence of lives I've met, helped, been helped by, hurt, been hurt by, endless maelstroms, not just of emotion, but also affect, a dreaming stream that floods and flees the floe of my fingers...
It is all so much, and I am grateful, for the chances to fight.
It is all so much, and I am grateful, for the chances to fight.

But I guess I often forget I'm not as terrible as I fear I am. I mean, so what if I can't get into reliable academic employment, or I can't get any progression in wages as befits my experience or expertise... Or I'm not successful or prestigious or anything like that. It's all.. actually quite ok.
