After surprising us with a new take on the #DoctorWho theme, “Trial” opens with a spectacular model shot that sets big expectations. Does the fourteen-episode epic deliver? Maybe. More as we journey through Season 23.

Due to real-world stuff, I missed the start of "Trial of a Time Lord" on KTEH. (I recorded it!)

I got home mid-airing, curious about what this new #DoctorWho looked like and caught the last moments of episode three, followed by Dominic Glynn’s updated theme. Loved it!

KTEH’s first airing of Trial of a Time Lord ran on two consecutive Thursdays — seven episodes in prime time, after the usual single episode.

Teenage me was stressed about VHS tape space while recording #DoctorWho

And the hype felt like six months (probably six weeks).

While #DoctorWho was on hiatus after Season 22, I was still new to fandom and catching up on so much—including KTEH’s first Hartnell & Troughton package (and the full Pertwee run). Only later did I realize how lucky I was to see those stories multiple times. Very fortunate.

"The Sixth Doctor Revisited" special from the 50th calls Sixie a “Doctor of action.” Which makes me wonder… did they watch the same Season 22 I did? A big chunk of part one is the Doctor & Peri arriving at the action. 🤔 #DoctorWho

Amazon has added both seasons of "Sledge Hammer" to its streaming library.

If you're not easily offended and like a genuinely hilarious TV show, check it out. I love it.

The cliffhanger to end season one is legendary.

Watching the #DoctorWho Season 22 extras, it’s striking how many competing agendas were in play—JNT chasing America & panto, Michael Grade wanting the show ended, Saward wanting out. Colin Baker and Nicola Bryant at least seemed fully committed.

I know there’s a lot of criticism leveled at #DoctorWho Season 22, but I can’t help but love it. The huge build-up on KTEH probably helped—but there are real gems here, even if it’s an uneven run.

"Revelation" must’ve reinforced the BBC’s fear that #DoctorWho was getting too gruesome. People converted into Daleks, the truth of Tranquil Repose, Davros’s wounds—there’s a heavy, lingering grimness throughout. It’s pushed even further in the Target novel, where Saward really seems to dwell on it.
January 8, 2026 at 2:48 PM
The real strength of "Revelation of the Daleks" is guest cast. Given sharp dialogue, every guest character pops—interesting, well performed, and proof that Saward could write strong characters. It just makes it more frustrating that he never really applied that skill to the Sixth Doctor. #DoctorWho

"Revelation" works when Saward breaks his usual formula, gives Davros real weight, and indulges in clever double-acts. But it also exposes his flaws: over-investing in this story at the expense of others—and somehow neglecting the one double-act that actually matters, the Doctor & Peri. #DoctorWho
January 8, 2026 at 2:40 PM
"Revelation of the Daleks" is often hailed as the peak of Six’s era, but it doubles down on the era’s flaws: violence, Doctor-lite storytelling, Peri objectified. Feels like Saward trying (and maybe failing) to out-Holmes Robert Holmes. #DoctorWho

The use of Davros in Revelation of the Daleks feels very true to Terry Nation’s original vision: Davros as the central villain, with the Daleks almost secondary. Telling how few people at Tranquil Repose seem genuinely afraid of them—more annoyed than terrified. #DoctorWho
