Oh yeah, I am going to try something stupid after all to get over the pixel art hurdle. I am going to blow up the templates I can currently use which are the images below, draw them in the way I usually do. Then scale them back down to their normal size there. Tedious? Yes. But it's a way.

Okay, the plan is set into motion. I'm going to fucking forget the art phase for now and just focus on systems and trying to get some kind of minimum viable product going. It's going to still be painful, especially if I want to start making refined pixel art. Ugh.

I'm reuploading this. I still want to make this a reality. I still want to make video games, including RPGs like this one. I really wish I knew why I still want to do this despite my emotional suffering and pain. I can't tell you why, besides that the feeling of excitement and fun overrides it all.

Well, I meant it when I said RPG Architect suits my needs. Look at this. I can easily make a game inspired by Breath of Fire 3 with this! Well then, color me impressed. As I said to my friends in VRChat one night, I wonder why no one is talking about RPG Architect and it's always RPG Maker.

Yeah, you can see the problem here. Having to code all this for EVERY ENEMY for EVERY BATTLE in GDevelop would be agonizing and difficult. I feel like I need an engine that is easier than this, quite frankly. GDevelop claims to be easy, but it really isn't. XD

That's the thing, the problem is I am focusing too hard on what my game art looks like UP CLOSE rather than further away in the game environment. I was truly going about it the wrong way. It's strange because I drew a tiny icon for my weight gain mod for Spyro: Reignited Trilogy, and it looks good.

See, in my Notepad I wrote the entire block of a GDevelop "event", which is basically organized code that is easier to read... but it's clearly still complicated. This is vital because this is how you make an upgrade screen on a shop menu, and it can be applied to RPG stats too.

So, from what I learned from the tutorial, I did this. I added the missing "change Z order" action. Think of actions as "then", which occur after "if" which are called conditions. There is no condition for this code cluster, so these "then" actions are always true every frame.

I love how just fiddling around with Cakewalk Sonar is immediately clicking with me despite it making no sense. I am never going to complain about "sensory overload" again if I am somehow managing to make some music right now and even add effects like reverb to this lovely synth pad backing. XD

Here is the general "programming" screen in GDevelop. Yes, it is overwhelming... but now I have calmed down, you can see that the yellow fields are how you organize and explain what each section is for. The thing is, this is still "complex", but it's at least put into words I can understand.

The in-app tutorial is very helpful but I want a tutorial FOR EVERY SINGLE FUCKING ONE OF THESE THINGS IN EVERY MENU... why is there no such thing? Yes, it's a lot, but then just hire multiple people who can do it, many people. Then it's possible. I can only follow tutorials, not do stuff on my own.
