While @amabel.bsky.social and her amazing City of Six Moons was surely on my brain as I made this at the start of the year, I think I was more so inspired by something I’d seen in the Egyptian wing at the Met Museum in NYC where there were no instructions & must rely on imagination to play.

"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it,"

Why would you not want to report on the bigger picture? Why would you want to lead people to believe anything but what’s really been going on?

I *LOVE* seeing prototype stuff like this.

I like Cuba Libre b/c it’s small and fairly quick. Colonial Twilight b/c it’s a slick tug of war. Fire in the Lake b/c of how expansive and thematic it is. I’d be really hard pressed to pick one.

COIN was tough til I saw a short video from Volko that said to simplify, use the cards for turn order only & just play with the actions, w/ special activities optional. Made it super easy.

Wish there was a way to get into Nevsky like that. The quick start didn’t help. Playing solo doesn’t help.

I have People Power. It’s fine. Not my fav COIN.

I really like the idea of Nevsky. Logistics is much more interesting to me than battle- but I’m still not sure I’ll ever really be able to wrap my head around it.

I love Cuba Libre. Haven’t wrapped my head around Nevsky yet but I do own it.

Star Realms Frontiers
Pax Pamir 2e
A Feast for Odin
Palm Island
Cuba Libre
Friday
Glass Road
Food Chain Island
Quarto
Uno

I play the first 8 solo.

Making this list was hard because I play games to death. I am more likely to get sick of a game than have them become favorites.

Look up Strata. It’s a savory bread pudding. My family always made something like this f/ Thanksgiving instead of stuffing. We call it “filling.” I’ve also made it with cheese and sautéed mushrooms.

Those were three of my 4 favorite designers to listen to. (Brian Train is the other.)
I would have loved to have heard that discussion.

That’s hilarious!

Any chance that discussion was recorded? 🤞

Awesome!

Sorry if this might be a stupid question, but If I download this game, can I play it on a tablet using an app where I can draw on it? (I don’t have a color printer)

Welp, I’ve been working extremely hard on said change for a solid 40 years now… The only time anything ever improved was when I masked so others would accept me- but then I hit burnout & have been stuck there for 8 years so… yeah. Limits are real & society isn’t changing to accommodate us.
