Your friendly neighbourhood book-reviewing ex-microinfluencer who hasn't reviewed a book since 2022.
The waitlist for doctors is literally years long. If I lose even my crappy doctor, I'll have nobody, & I need regular prescriptions that I don't think walk-in clinics would touch. At least my doctor just gives refills without much problem. Keeps me stable, at least.

But fucking hell, he is a joke!

One of these days, if I'm not on top of everything and don't already know in advance what I probably need, his negligence is going to result in something going seriously wrong.

And I can't just get a new doctor. The doctor shortage here is a nightmare!

I don't know what my doctor's problem with me is, that leads to constant negligence. Reviews of him will sometimes mention that he's great at being nice and shaking hands with patients, but he's never once done that to me. He seems to refuse to go nearer to me than absolutely needed.

Just demonstrated how to pop HIS OWN WRIST in order to let the cyst drain.

If it hadn't been a simple ganglion cyst (which there's no way he could tell by just peering at it from 5 feet away), and had kept growing, that could have proven dangerous.

But he didn't care.

He DID give me a prescription for antibiotics, but this isn't the first time I've told my doctor about a problem and he won't look at it or won't touch me.

Few months ago, I showed him a large lump on my wrist. He told me it was a ganglion cyst (it was), but didn't cross the room to look closer.

Were you a doctor, do you think asking to see the infected area would be a good idea, to assess the proper treatment?

If so, you are not my doctor.

My doctor didn't look at the infection. Didn't express interest in it. Even acknowledged in the conversation that he hadn't seen it.

Itchy, red, small spots starting to surround the really red area that encircled the initial cut. I asked for oral antibiotics, since the skin had healed over so topical antibiotics like Polysporin wouldn't do anything, and I REALLY didn't want to deal with another bout of cellulitis.

My 2026 reading plans are the same as they have been for the past few years: aim to read 50 books, fail to manage reading 50 books, and then try again next year.

It's a solid cycle.

My whole adult life, I've had an interest in frugality, and even when disability has made cooking harder on me, I still love to make soups and stuff from leftovers like this.

Probably a good thing, since disability is expensive, so we might eat a lot of turkey soup, but at least we'll be well fed!

Very true! Can we maybe just get huge snowfalls specifically into wells? If we get another such terrible winter, at least there'll be that benefit. This summer was such a dry nightmare!

Oh hell, no thank you! That was a terrifying winter! I moved to PEI between 2 storms, we had no snow shovels, and my partner literally had to leave our new place by the window because the snow was so high against the door. Nobody needs a repeat of that winter!

Same! If it is, then nobody will see me again until spring thaw!

So, y'know, next mid-May. :p
