I’m using the Baader UFC as filter drawer for my Hyperstar and it’s adjustable so that the threads are kind of in a rotated position and thus the camera gets rotated. It’s a bit more effort because I have to handle several really tiny screws with an allen key. But collimation is preserved that way!

And what I also learned is: Don’t rotate the Hyperstar for framing! It’s supposed to be rotatable and there are even screws for that but from my experience that’s not good for the collimation! Probably because of the tight tolerances combined with the natural limits in manufacturing precision.

Thanks a lot, Paul! 🙂 Hyperstar is very sensitive collimation and back focus wise but that holds true for every f/2 system after all. I used the Hotech Laser Colimator for Hyperstar to adjust it and that really helped a lot. Since I secured the set screws with a bit of loctite it’s pretty stable.

Yes, north is to the right side of the frame. The camera was at 90 degrees which is my standard setup. You can see the orientation on my AstroBin, I just posted it over there.

Thank you so much, Julien! 😊
I think it isn’t imaged very often but it really deserves it! It’s a beautiful object.
