Ich habe aktuell genau eine Pause am Tag: Vormittags eine halbe Stunde nach bereits mehreren Stunden am Schreibtisch. Beim Mittagessen arbeite ich. Laut Benjamin habe ich aber vermutlich zuviel Freizeit, weil er mich zufällig in genau dieser Zeit im Café erwischt.

To be clear: I think this is a good video and didn't mean to imply that you're not critical or attempting to put an end to this conversation. It's just that I am too stubborn to stop demanding change and wanted to use this opportunity to do exactly that.

That's understandable. I also don't really expect them to revise these processes, but refuse to stop demanding this change. Also, there's still a tiny spark of hope, as me and other jury members successfully managed to pressure the German Game Awards into paying us. So maybe, just maybe...

An event of this size, production value and impact should have the budget to at least offer modest expense allowances, right? Instead, game developers and journalists – whose labour is already widely exploited – have to work for free to make this prestigious event that supposedly...

Instead, I'd strongly suggest to revise the voting process. Why aren't jury members even required to justify their nominations? Why are there no rules whatsoever in terms of which kind of games qualify for which categories?

And last, but certainly not least: Why aren't jury members PAID?

Especially for smaller projects with a limited marketing budget and outreach, being highlighted in this show in some way can be a game changer and lead to increased sales. Considering this impact, dismissing it as a trailer show and the award as a "popularity context" doesn't sit right with me.

...considering the many flaws in the process, we should take this award less seriously.

As she says herself, The Game Awards offer one of the biggest stages for game developers and their creations. In 2024, there were an estimated 154 Million global livestreams according to the official website.

I hope this childish nonsense will stop soon. Romance and dating is such a fascinating and terribly underrepresented topic, especially in schools and universities. Thanks for covering it!
