The department collects and distributes gifts to ensure these Utahns—many of whom face isolation, trauma, or severe health challenges—receive support during the holidays.

This is about loving our neighbors enough to prevent unnecessary harm, especially to infants, immunocompromised Utahns, and people who can’t get vaccinated for medical reasons.

Utah’s leaders need to be straight with people: we can conserve, innovate, and protect our communities, but only if we stop pretending that growth alone can outweigh ecological reality. Long-term water security is a moral responsibility we owe to our children and our neighbors.

As she steps away, the responsibility now falls on all of us to make sure her work continues—especially the work of elevating communities that haven’t always been heard in our political system.
