Most states have laws requiring prices on shelves if not on individual items, and you can make the store sell it at the posted price -- which seems to bar sliding/variable pricing. We don't need to riot, just enforce existing laws.

You can argue later about ownership of an oil tanker (and I assume the rightful owner of said tanker will indeed contest the seizure). You can't argue later about dead mariners. I consider murder the worse crime.

Also: Do these guys understand about "in-network" vs. "not-in-network"? You can't shop around among all the providers within a reasonable drive, only the ones your plan covers, who are accepting new patients, who practice at the hospital that's in your plan, etc. etc. etc.

Biden's HHS tried to get rid of this kind of unexpected "Gotcha!" billing, in exactly this situation where it's a covered procedure at a covered facility, but a contract anesthesiologist. It should be illegal. I'd argue hard with the insurance company over this one.

So he wants people to look at the price and go "Nah, I don't need to have this broken arm set after all"? Or "I'm not calling an ambulance, so what if it's a heart attack"?

The concept that people are consuming too much health care willy-nilly is just insane.

Doesn't "looks Somali" translate as "being Black in Minnesota or somewhere else someone imagines Blacks shouldn't be"?

I assume Vance would keep the same crew, including Vought and Miller, and let them keep doing whatever it is that they do (or don't).

And if Kushner and the Saudis are making money on the deal, Trump is undoubtedly benefitting via some channel. Follow the money, as much as the ideology.

No.

Your remedy is to hound *your* representative and Senators, and if you can, vote out the ones that don't respond. (Remember that Democrats are the mostly-powerless minority, so don't blame them.)

Where? He just came up with this bailout like a week ago, and Congress hasn't passed anything of the kind. Is it buried in something that didn't get noticed?
December 10, 2025 at 9:22 PM
Um, minding his own business? It's the House, not the Senate, that's at issue here? Why are you on Schumer's back?
December 10, 2025 at 9:21 PM
Thank you, this has been bugging me all along, as he treats various revenue sources as somehow his personal slush fund to spend however he wants.

If the Commander-in-Chief isn't being kept informed and isn't actually making the decisions to go to war, who is?

Incompetence is probably a factor in some cases. But even more is that many of these are cases that ethical career prosecutors wouldn't even attempt, because the evidence is thin to nonexistent. The hacks go ahead anyway, because Daddy said so.

It seems like word is getting out that this is actually an option the GJ has -- the publicity around each no-true-bill makes the next one a bit more likely.

The same is true of getting in the way of ICE/CBP snatch-and-grabs.
December 10, 2025 at 9:12 PM
There has to be an investigation ASAP -- Congress? FOIA demand? -- into these "separate accounts" Trump claims he's got, where revenue goes and he can spend it however he wants to (including into his pocket), without Congressional authorization. Tariff revenues, investment returns, now Gold Cards.
December 10, 2025 at 8:17 PM
You can't -- the price depends on who's paying. They have contracts with the various insurance companies, a sticker price they tell Medicare but know Medicare won't really pay, etc. etc. etc.
December 10, 2025 at 8:14 PM
They also never encountered the concept "in-network provider."

You're lucky if you can find *one* provider of the type you need, much less two, three, many to choose from -- and try getting a firm price quote up front 🤣🤣🤣

Or hear me out, what if lonely people sauntered down to the nearest cafe or diner or public library and had conversations with other actual people?

It's old. I remember Doug Emhoff using it to introduce his mother.

I went into Boston yesterday and was delighted they're running in an alternate location during the renovations. I was dreading a trip with no coffee!

What difference does nominal "tenure" make in a regime that tells you what you can and can't teach, or else you're fired?
