I didn’t say that. As it turns out, opening the government breaks the dam that is the Epstein files, which in turn, is breaking Trump/maga. The Dems were never going win the subsidy fight, and continuing the denial of SNAP was too painful for a party that prides themselves on compassion.

Open until Dec. when there’s another special election that will cancel the discharge petition.

If Johnson DOESN’T call a vote, then GOP can’t blame the Dems for the shutdown (although I’m sure they’ll find a way…)

This Senate vote puts Johnson in a terrible position strategically for him.

I can see the other side of this as you did. My take is that it puts all of this back on Johnson to call the vote AND he’ll have to finally swear in Rep. Grijalva, who will vote for the discharge petition.
Johnson doesn’t WANT to open the govt but he’ll be forced to do so.
