I am about to go in and quit my job. It's not a particularly wise choice in the current economy, as I have nothing lined up to replace it, but necessary for my mental and physical well being. This is me, giving myself emotional support as I gird my loins to do this task.

So...weird thing to think about maybe: when I got divorced I changed back to my very Hispanic maiden last name. On the one hand, that should help with voting. On the other hand, will I, a third generation US citizen, be targeted because of my last name? #SAVEact #ICEdeportation

This dog...we went to a state park to walk up and down steep hills on a skinny trail with uneven stairs. It took an hour. I am exhausted. He is STILL ready to bounce off walls. He's a year old. When will he lose some of this boundless energy?? #dogs

I am learning how to do Tunisian Crochet by making kitchen washcloths. This yarn is perfect... it's a cotton yarn, but it's tougher than most cotton yarn I have used. It's uncomfortable to hold when doing regular crochet, but it doesn't bother me with Tunisian. #tunisiancrochet 🧶

When I was about 6 years old, one of my grandmothers had a nightgown that I just adored. It was silky, floor length and leopard print. My grandmother cut her beautiful nightgown, making it knee length; then she used that piece to make me my own leopard print, silky, floor length nightgown! /5

Maybe I missed it because I was reminiscing about when I learned to sew, about my grandmothers' sewing, about the projects I had done when I was first learning at their knees. Whatever the case, I had to go to the local box store to get a foot. And I can't resist browsing while I am there. /4

Today, I finally plugged it in, and threaded the needle, got the bobbin set up, and had my first small project ready to sew. And then....I noticed that it was missing a basic presser foot. I had a buttonhole foot, and a button foot....but nothing for basic stitches. How had I missed that? /3

I thought for sure there was something wrong with it, and maybe I was wasting my $20. I tinkered with it on and off for several weeks, learning the ins and outs of how it works (there were several things different than any of my previous machines). So far, no issues noticed. /2

Synchronicity. About a month ago, after several months of wrestling with the idea of shelling out several hundred dollars to get a sewing machine just because I wanted one, I lucked into a Singer Simple machine at my local Haven Hospice Thrift Store. It was all of $20! /1
