Here's an idea for an Amstrad-themed pallette that adds depth while keeping the technical and aesthetic vibe: quarter and 3/4 brights for each color that had a half-bright channel.
The Amstrad CPC had 27 colors. Loads for an 8-bit! But it generated them by having RGB channels on or off with half brights for each. Because our eyes aren't mathematical abstractions, this results in 8 shades of lurid bright green, one single gray, and no reasonable skin tones.

When phase 2 is "install Minecraft" it's insane. The launcher app warns not to install it before installing other things. Like a post-it note on a dirty gas station pump saying DON'T USE BUTTON. You have to log into it maybe three times at different stages. Then you can install minecraft itself.
