While aerospace engineers made planes much safer over the decades, software industry seems to be working really hard to pull it back. (re: Airbus software glitch)

Are we all overlooking the fact that the $20,000 “autonomous” robot has human operators? 😒

Speaking of bad visual design patterns... If blue is the color for "Most of internet is down because of this outage", I wonder what they use yellow and red for. For future reference: this caused outage for most internet services, ie. Amazon, Microsoft, Venmo... health.aws.amazon.com/health/status

Are they trying to start a WW3 to speed up the armageddon?

Love so many things about living in the Bay Area. The one thing I dislike is the temperature difference between day and after sundown. I like summers in other places where you can go from day to night in the same t-shirt without needing extra layers.

The kid has to record Careless Whisper for music class. It’s overdue. So I am singing him Careless Whisper every few hours until he turns in his homework. And this is why I take all those vocal lessons 😂

Maybe it was actually the bachelorette party and they figured they may as well get some “feminism photo op” on the side? 🚀

If cities do this right, this whole car tariff thing may be the opportunity to push more public transportation. As long as service is there, people will use it. Even more so when buying a car becomes harder and harder.

Tech company offices look a lot better than their products. There, I said.

“Now I'm awake to the world. I was asleep before. That's how we let it happen. When they slaughtered Congress, we didn't wake up. When they blamed terrorists and suspended the constitution, we
didn't wake up then, either.”

I watched the video of Sarah McBride being misgendered by the GOP committee chair. I love that she responded with humor. More importantly though, I love how Bill Keating stepped in. That’s what we all should do when we see injustice. That’s how allyship works.

Had to sort out insurance claims and now I want to move to a country with socialized medicine. Denied claims don't include the reason and the provider information. Because why make it easy for the insured to know which medical bill was denied and for what reason, right? 😠

Listening to "The Brutalists" on 99% Invisible and @mlamster.bsky.social is describing why architecture as a job isn't a common movie topic. and starts listing all the ways it's "boring". Now I regret having left architecture because all those things including the plumbing details were so fun. 😅

What’s up with overly soft hotel beds in the US? Are they trying to make us leave early, make us have bad sleep, be miserable? I wish they would learn from the rest of the world when choosing beds. 🙄

Not that what they’re doing isn’t scary already but this is really scary.

So many people are willing to let the country (and the world) go to shit, rather than admit that they were naive and got hoodwinked. 🙄

My mom just said she got a message on Instagram that says that I am inviting her to Threads. I have only logged into Threads when it first came out. Wtf Meta? Is there nobody left there who’s not comfortable with tricking users?

Are we all agreeing that these “tariffs” on oil producers like Colombia and Canada is so that gas prices go up and they can justify opening up more drilling in the US. Like, Alaska, off short, etc?
In 2022, the top U.S. imports from Colombia were $6.05 billion in crude petroleum and $1.78 billion in coffee.

Buy your gas and lattes while they’re cheap, I guess.

I broke Gemini with diversity. It generated an image of a group for me with mostly men. I added “There are both men and women in the room” and got told that it can’t help with that. 🙄

Tech people can’t even manage to make software that’s not shitty. They will fix the government? 🙄(and I work in tech).

I will deactivate my account in the other place. The saddest part will be losing my handle which was my first name. The joys of being an early adopter back in the day.

The birthright citizenship clause of 14th amendment is what everyone is focused on but I am pretty sure that the rest of what’s in it is the actual target. Birthright citizenship is just the casualty and an easy way to rally the uninformed bigots.
