Can we make a binary counter using only 3D printed mechanical parts? Yes! Follow me on my journey to figure how to this with a Geneva mechanism…
Understandable

Is an interesting point:
- old web had ownership but discoverability was bad
- new web has no ownership of data but discoverability is better

Bluesky lets u do both, showing it wasn’t really a tradeoff after all

I do think anyone being able to make algorithm is important part of it
This is the most succinct version of a post I've been trying to write for two months. When I stop for just a sec to think about the possibilities of The Atmospheric web, I'm a little overwhelmed by how exciting it is. Come build it with us!
Let’s Build an Atmospheric Web
The Atmospheric Web shows we don't have to accept the false choice of ownership vs. distribution

Off to the races!! This is my first racetrack run with my 3D printed tiny marble set, it works!! :) :) :)

Workin on a connector for my mini 3D printed marbleworks, I think I found one that’s close to as good as LEGOs!

Traditional marbleworks connectors look like this: (ignore the Plinko piece, just an example, look at 7 things on top)

Works because the plastic flexes a bit, but this is bad idea 1/N

Okay so ya'll have heard of the aperoidic montotile right? This spooky beast?

Well did u know that they actually discovered a whole family of them?

I thought, hmm well what if we make a 3D printed part that is all of these simultaneously (shifting along the y axis)

You may have heard that bees use hexagons, but did you know that’s not the whole picture? There’s a 3D shape called the Rhombic Dodecahedron which is actually the shape they use, it tiles 3D and is technically also a projection of the hyper cube

I made a 3D printed magnetic toy based on this!

What a day

Taylor swift took conference center postponing conference a day so I went to gas station and they had slushee bracelets and then I went outside and found this building

Maybe I should get some sleep…

I made a MTG searcher in Resonite, it uses no external servers and does the searching entirely in protoflux (Resonite’s visual scripting language).
But MTG has ~50,000 cards, and protoflux has overhead that makes the nieve method take a long time. So how did I make searching only take a few seconds?

I made a Unicode explorer thingy in Resonite, it lets you browse all valid Unicode Symbols (as of today) by code block or by searching :3

Also includes all fonts needed to render every Unicode character

Released my GPU Accelerated Conway’s Game of Life in Resonite! This was a challenge because Resonite doesn’t support compute shaders, so how did I implement conways game of life? 1/3

Had a fun side project today, wanted to compute abs(noise1-noise2) for a fissures effect but Resonite doesn’t have custom shaders

Fortunately it has LUTs so I realized I can just additive blend noise1 into r channel, noise2 into g channel, then compute a LUT that does r = g = b = abs(r-g)

Starting to watch distributed systems lectures, just an hour a day. Been fun! Today was on map reduce, a simplified interface that lets u write distributed code ez (with some costs ofc)

Finished refactoring and got draw to hand working mostly well, feels kinda weird with no smoothing tho and a little stumped how to do that performantly, will need to think on that
Some refactoring today into a GridAligner, also made an async gun system that works at very high speeds with no raycast
Today was a slow day, got drawing to a hand working if deck is in playspace as well as mostly able to stick cards anywhere in deck now

Gonna start tweeting my development of a draft system in Resonite

Today I got a system working where u can click on a deck and press search and it’ll pop up all the cards in a grid (u can then grab them and add from elsewhere)

Also u can
- shuffle the deck
- add a card to top via drag and drop
