What do you propose as a solution

I love that. I’ve spent the last 18 months talking to a steady stream of visitors and I feel the same way. Some of them love Broadway, some want to avoid it. A few came back from it disappointed. The sloppy drunks take all the oxygen out of the room but they’re not the only visitors

Yeah. Broad strokes, I’d rather us just regulate nuisances (to the degree we can) and let people do what they want otherwise, but 🤷🏼‍♂️

I am a man of the people
November 29, 2025 at 11:28 PM
Yeah what’s the deal with the fountains?
November 29, 2025 at 11:19 PM
My sister and I were just talking about how often we went to the library as kids. I hate this
November 29, 2025 at 11:06 PM
I meant in this conversation, but fair

What a treat for us

Who is advocating for extreme urban density?
November 29, 2025 at 10:42 PM
Is that something metro has the power to fix
November 29, 2025 at 10:40 PM
Yeah I’m fine ignoring them
November 29, 2025 at 10:29 PM
I also never said anything about high rises
November 29, 2025 at 10:28 PM
Who is defending behavior like that?
November 29, 2025 at 10:24 PM
(which is not directed at you)
November 29, 2025 at 10:23 PM
Yes. My concern is that any “solution” will abandon both those people and people employed by the hospitality industry to placate the landed gentry
November 29, 2025 at 10:22 PM
I’m also a lot more sympathetic to “I don’t want shitfaced morons near my home” if they don’t also lump people like me in with the shitfaced morons by defending apartment bans in their neighborhoods too
November 29, 2025 at 10:21 PM
Yeah. I think (at least some of) the loudest voices complaining about tourism would just shift to complaining about newcomers, though
November 29, 2025 at 10:16 PM
Yeah I agree with that. I’m also not defending the industry or NDP or anyone really. I just think a lot of the complaints are misplaced anger about change in general, especially when neighborhoods are invoked
November 29, 2025 at 9:14 PM
Where do you think we’re shorting resident services in favor of tourism?
November 29, 2025 at 9:03 PM
Like, specific instances of bike lane removal can be attributed to the tourism industry. But the root problem is politicians not supporting an actual cycling network. Trading suburban bar owners for sub-urban homeowners is a lateral move in that respect
