tbh i think the best way to resist co-opted language is not to be more abstract, but more literal and descriptive. that's what i like about "predictive models" – regardless of how you feel about their use, they are undeniably models that make predictions

There's a lot of (1)ishness in most (2)s if you scratch the surface. What power makes the expense & bad PR of polluting the ditch worth it? What happens when <0.1% of people make the tools that mediate our style, religion... iow, our culture?

The Penn attackers (who used the same MO as the attacks at Harvard and Princeton in the last couple weeks) made their political grievances pretty explicit in an email they sent out to the exfiltrated email addresses.
