For all the obvious flaws of Corbyn and Corbynism, a huge appeal of him for my generation was that he was one of a handful of politicians who had been on the right side of the argument re: Iraq and austerity when key political actors chastised anyone on that side of the argument for being naive.

It was clear what the direction of travel was and how damaging it would be, and senior staff there were like "we are not in the business of sausage rolls" (close enough a direct quote) and laughed away all criticisms like we were children. I won't tell you what a mess that uni is in money wise.

Like that is the political terrain right now. We lifted up the carpet, we saw how much shit was under there, and decided to keep brushing stuff under there because what else can you do.

The funny thing about the Big Short is that the narrative is that this was so hidden that when it did happen it took the world by surprise, but when this one happens everyone is going to be like "yeah, everyone knew".

At least I could vaguely decode what the speaker was saying with those three, now I need to decide if the café is woke because it serves vegan sausage rolls or woke because it's run by a lesbian.
