I am thankful to President Lance Davis for forcefully shutting this hateful disruption down in the moment, and to my colleague Councilor McLaughlin for calling it out in his remarks.

During the testimony of resident describing how Somerville pension funds are invested with an American weapons manufacturer whose missiles have been used to kill children, journalists, and other civilians in Gaza, someone in the crowd repeatedly yelled out expressions of glee: “good! good!”

But the moment from last night’s meeting that I can’t get out of my head came a few minutes before we voted.

Last night, the City Council passed a Resolution affirming that we will respect the will of Somerville voters by working towards a policy in line with Ballot Question 3 “in a manner that is practicable and legally feasible.” You can watch my remarks on why I supported this Resolution here:
